Buna-N, often referred to as Butadiene Acrilonitrile, Perbunan, or NBR rubber, is the American word for nitrile rubber. Because of their acrylonitrile concentration, grades differ in their characteristics. While a low acrylonitrile content offers more robustness and low temperature flexibility, a high acrylonitrile content offers superior oil resistance.
Although nitrile has weak resistance to ozone, it has exceptional resistance to oils, fuel, solvents, and lubricants. Nitrile gaskets are therefore especially well-suited for usage with fuels, oils, fats, and other liquids that are polluted by these substances.
Commercial, specification, and white food purity grades of nitrile are available in our inventory. Depending on the grade, it works best in temperatures between -20oC and +110oC.
